Decal System (Free) and Cloud System are going to Disappear

We have provided free versions for both the Decal System and the Cloud System for a long time and have answered all the support questions without any further requirements.

As publisher of freely available extensions in the Unity Asset Store, we don’t feel comfortable anymore and have decided to remove those products within the near future and terminate all the support as soon as they are not anymore available.

There are still some days or maybe weeks left to get those packages for free.

Decal System (Pro) 1.5

The next version of the Decal System Pro and its free variant the Decal System now available.

Version 1.5

  • Workaround for a DX11 crash bug in Unity.
  • Added Colored Parallax shader.
  • Added ProjectWrapped to UV and UV2.
  • Removed UnityScript examples.
  • Updated the C# examples.
    • Use namespaces.
    • Improved explanations.
    • General cleanup.

Decal System Pro

  • Added Editable Renderers option.
  • Added Decals Mesh Minimizer. (Beta)

Cloud System (Free) 1.8

The next version of the Cloud System will resolve some critical issues. It became necessary to drop the support for Unity 3.

Version 1.8

  • Unity 4 required.
    • Several stability improvements could be made.
  • Resolved: Shuriken clouds not displayed.
  • Resolved: Workaround for a Unity crash bug. (Reported by Enno)

The packages are currently under review and are usually available within a few days.

Decal System (Pro) 1.4

The next version of the Decal System will also have a paid Pro variant:

  • Added Normals Smoothing for projectors.
  • Added draggable faces for projectors.
  • Added buttons for projectors adjust the size according to texture ratio.
  • Added Focusing for projectors in scene view.
  • Addex example scene for unstrechted bullets.
  • Added ProjectorRotationUtility class to simplify the rotation computation of runtime projectors.
    • All demos were updated to use it.
  • Changed default culling angle to 90 degrees.
  • Removed Undo/Redo warning.
  • Resolved culling angle issue. (Reported by Dmitriy Kuzmenko)
  • Resolved bump mapping issue. (Reported by Seith)
  • Resolved a matrix computation issue in the examples. (Reported by Chris Crafty)
  • Added warnings and exceptions if affected meshes are not readable or statically batched. (Reported by sburgoon)
  • Workaround for a crash bug due to an unwrapping issue in Unity. (Reported by eskovas)

Decal System Pro

  • Added Texture Atlas Assets.
    • Automatic Tiling.
  • Added Vertex Colors.
    • Added corresponding shaders.
    • Added colored skinned example.
  • Added Project After Offset option.
  • Added details for affected renderers in inspector.
  • Added Terrain density.
  • Allow recomputation of projected UVs and UV2s at runtime (GenericDecalsMesh.UpdateProjectedUV/2 (…)).
  • Added support for fast updates of UVs, UV2s and vertex colors at runtime.
    • Added example scene: Bootcamp Simple UV Rectangle Index Update.
    • Added example scene: Bootcamp Simple Vertex Color Update.

Decal System 1.3

Another update of the Decal System is now under review:

Version 1.3

  • Unity 4 required.
    • Several workarounds and conditional compilations could be removed.
  • Resolved: Projector gizmos are not shown if the decals game object is selected. (Reported by mentalBLUR studio)
    • Projector gizmos are always shown as a workaround.
  • Improved projector box visualization.
    • Nicer integration with the environment thanks to the GL class.
  • Resolved: Decals in prefabs create an uncontrollable number of mesh assets. (Reported by mentalBLUR studio)
  • SkinQuality is taken into account for Skinned Decals.
    • SkinnedDecalsMesh.Add (…) signature has changed accordingly.
  • Due to a bounds issue, updateWhenOffscreen is enabled by default for all skinned decals mesh renderers.
  • Added Bullet Example for skinned meshes.

Decal System 1.2.1

Another update of the Decal System is now under review:

  • Resolved: Inverted triangles in some cases. (Reported by Igor Samuilov)
  • Added Bullet Example for dynamic objects.
  • Unity 4 Preview

Due to the changed API in Unity 4, the Decal System didn’t work so far. This update has a package named Unity4.unitypackage. You have to extract that one in order to replace the dll’s with the ones that work in Unity 4.

Cloud System (Free) 1.7.1

This Cloud System release resolves some issues.

Version 1.7.1

  • Resolved: Bounding Box Recalculation does not pass the new bounding box to the mesh renderers (Custom and Simple Custom)!
  • Resolved: UseParticleColors can now be set for cloud references.
